A key focus of Luis’s presentation was the concept of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG). He explained that ESG represents the framework businesses use to evaluate their environmental impact (such as reducing carbon emissions and promoting biodiversity), social responsibilities (including labour practices and community engagement), and governance structures (ensuring transparency, accountability, and ethical decision-making). He stressed that adopting robust ESG strategies is not only essential for addressing climate change but also for building long-term business resilience and investor confidence.
Luis shared how BSI is at the forefront of assisting organisations in Australia and globally to navigate the complexities of ESG compliance, including meeting mandatory climate disclosures set to take effect in 2025. His emphasis on the importance of sustainability highlighted the urgent need for action and collaboration to ensure a better future.
