Rotary Club of Brisbane Supports Russell Island State School in Attending ‘Schools Future Fit Programme’

The Rotary Club of Brisbane is proud to support Russell Island State School by making a donation to cover transportation costs, allowing students to attend the ‘Schools Future Fit Programme’ at Pat Rafter Arena on September 10th. This initiative, organised in conjunction with Tennis Queensland, focuses on developing skills and fostering a sense of accomplishment among disadvantaged youth.

Umit Oraloglu, CEO of Youth of Tomorrow Ltd, the not-for-profit entity behind the programme, emphasised the impact of last year’s event: "We had up to 600 students from eight state schools participate, and schools have informed us that the programme is ideal for them. The tennis activities offered help break down cycles by developing new skills and giving students a sense of accomplishment."

This year’s event will also feature a Commemorative Education Presentation led by Kerry Gallagher, President of RSL Queensland South Eastern District, highlighting the importance of Anzac Day and fostering a greater sense of unity within our communities. The addition of this presentation reflects the growing popularity and success of the programme, which aims to build stronger communities by engaging with today’s youth.

Rotary’s commitment to developing the next generation of leaders aligns perfectly with the goals of Youth of Tomorrow. Both organisations focus on building leadership skills, expanding education, and instilling the value of service in young people.

Many other Rotary Clubs also contribute to supporting schools in their communities, and the Rotary Club of Brisbane is proud to join them in this important effort. This financial support will help cover the transportation expenses for Russell Island State School, allowing its students to benefit from this enriching programme.
