This funding will enable the purchase and distribution of nine TiB units, a significant step toward improving digital learning access in remote areas.
A special acknowledgment goes to Phil Saxby for his efforts in securing this funding. His commitment to this initiative, alongside RCoB member Dickson Ken, has ensured that students across PNG will benefit from educational resources previously out of reach. Phil also generously topped up the funding, allowing for the purchase of additional TiB units.
As Phil noted in his message to club members:
"I note with some delight that the RCoB District Grant application last year for TiB to be purchased and distributed into PNG schools through the expertise of RCoB member Dickson Ken has been successful in this round. Please support RCoB member Dickson Ken in his tireless endeavours to improve educational standards throughout PNG. Through RARE, Dickson has now shipped many containers of educational equipment throughout PNG, not just into his own Province. These TiB units will open exceptional educational opportunities previously not dreamt about in PNG."
Dickson Ken has played a crucial role in this project, having already been involved in multiple TiB units across PNG. He will continue working closely with local schools and colleges to ensure the successful deployment of these new units, identifying locations where they will have the most impact.
The Teacher in a Box program provides a low-cost, offline digital education solution designed for areas with limited or no internet access. Each unit contains a wealth of educational materials, including textbooks, lessons, and interactive learning tools, helping to bridge the digital divide for students and teachers in remote communities. More about the program can be found at Teacher in a Box.
This initiative exemplifies Rotary’s commitment to education and international service. Thanks to the dedication of our members and support from Rotary District 9620, we are making a lasting impact on the lives of students in PNG.
We look forward to seeing the difference these TiB units will make and will keep the club updated as they are installed in the coming months.
