The Rotary Club of Mackay, originally chartered by the Rotary Club of Brisbane in 1926, has once again demonstrated its leadership and community spirit through a standout event in support of Domestic and Family Violence Prevention.

Yesterday’s impactful initiative placed the issue firmly in the public eye, generating widespread media attention and a powerful presence across social media platforms. United under the rallying cry, “What do we want? RESPECT. When do we want it? NOW.”, the community came together in a vibrant show of solidarity and determination.

The day featured a series of events including the Bravus Breakfast and a public March, each aimed at raising awareness and empowering the community to take a stand. The initiative was supported by local Rotarians, community leaders, volunteers, and supporters who recognise that ending domestic and family violence requires unified, ongoing action.

Michael Buckeridge, Past District Governor (2019–2020) and Regional Council Membership New Club A-Team Captain, acknowledged the incredible collaboration that made the day possible:

“This event couldn’t have happened without the commitment and energy of so many people. You’ve all made a difference. Planning is already underway for an even greater impact in May 2026.”
