Dear Members, Alumni, and Friends of Rotary,
On Monday 19 May, we had planned a club workshop—but with more guests than members in attendance, we shifted gears and embraced the opportunity to get to know our visitors, share a Rotary 101 overview, and a chat from John Smerdon on how our Public Ancillary Fund works. It turned out to be a terrific evening.
With 30 participants last week and 20 this week (both in-person and online), it’s great to see such strong engagement and interest in the club and what we do. The move to evening meetings continues to be well received—and it’s always a pleasure to see new and returning faces around the table. Welcome back Keith! Speaking of Keith ... in my mind the Club Birthday dinner next week would be a great event for alumni to attend but Keith's Testimonial dinner has eclipsed that! I think it's great that we have a variety of ways that people can show up. Pick and choose as suits you! Or just pop along to a regular meeting and see what it is that we are about.
Here’s what’s coming up:
Saturday 24 May – Volunteer for a Hands-On Fundraising Event
We need volunteers for this important club fundraiser. It’s a fantastic chance to support our work and connect more informally with fellow members. Don’t be shy—come lend a hand! Our member Maria Efthymiopolus is wrangling members.
Monday 26 May – Club’s 102nd Birthday Meeting - see above
Thursday 12 June – Keith Watts Testimonial Dinner
Celebrate a remarkable Rotarian at a special event hosted at The Gabba.
This is a ticketed dinner and seats are filling fast.
Thank you all for continuing to show up, pitch in, and represent Rotary’s values in action. There’s great momentum in the club—and that’s thanks to you.
Rotary regards
