DESCRIPTION:PLEASE SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER VIA THE BLUE BUTTON  Last time we
did this our club raised over $4\,000 for a few fun hours of volunteering.
The more volunteers from our club\, the larger our piece of the pie! Once
again the Rotary Club of Brisbane has been invited to participate in a fu
ndraising event at the DOOMBEN RACECOURSE on Saturday\, 24 May. Volunteers
from the club\, along with family and friends\, will be selling raffle ti
ckets to raise funds for the club’s charity accounts. The raffle operate
s with 50% of the takings going to the prize winner\, 40.9% going to the v
olunteer organizations\, and 9.1% to the Lottery Foundation. Proceeds are
distributed to participating Rotary clubs based on the number of volunteer
s they provide\, meaning the more volunteers\, the greater the financial b
enefit for the club. Volunteers are required to arrive at the Racecourse i
n the morning for a briefing\, with raffle ticket selling beginning at 11
am and continuing for around four hours. This event presents an opportunit
y for the club to raise as much in one day as they could have with a week
of car parking\, an opportunity the club missed out on this year. Special
thanks to Maria Efthymioploulos for coordinating the event\, and the Hamil
ton Rotary Club for extending the invitation.
