A day full of fun, laughter, and friendship and the Annual Picnic for Children with Special Needs sponsored by South Brisbane Rotary Club.

Our club sent along Monika (in the red sunnies) & Matt Christopher, Angela da Silva Murphy as volunteers and of course DG Mark Williams made an appearance. We loved supporting South Brisbane Club's wonderful event in a practical way.

Tonight’s meeting was amazing, one of the best in living memory.
We had Club Members being celebrated and recognised for their Service Above Self delivering impact in the community.
We had one of our newest members Past District Governor Ian McKay Chairing the meeting.
We had a Member Spotlight with another new member Carol Gesser which had the fellows clapping and cheering her as Carol explained the skills and experience she is bringing to our Club. Click HERE for more photos from last night.
We enjoyed connection through fellowship and wrapped up with looking forward to the end of year events like our Christmas Party and AGM where we are in a very solid position to vote in our new President Elect, Secretary, Vice President, Treasurer and all other important positions are secured prior to the AGM.
The Club has new members wanting to join and we’re finishing the half way point of the 2025-26 year off in such an incredibly strong way. The future of Queensland’s First Rotary Club looks to be very bright and prosperous indeed.
If you’d like to visit our club and see what it’s like to join us in our quest to make a difference in the world, visit our website and click on Calendar of events to choose a Monday evening at The Normanby Hotel and we look forward to welcoming you as our guest.
Service above self since 1923.

Rotary International has long been at the forefront of humanitarian service, working across borders to foster inclusion, health, and education. In August 2025, sister Rotary Clubs from Australia, Sri Lanka, and India will unite for a special global initiative β€” Supporting Adolescents with Autism β€” bringing together service-minded individuals, experts, and volunteers at the Chennai Trade Centre.

This effort reflects Rotary’s unwavering commitment to creating a more inclusive world for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). By combining global collaboration, professional expertise, and grassroots volunteerism, the initiative aims to build awareness, provide resources, and engage communities in meaningful action.

31st August and 14th September, 2025, 8:30am-3:00pm

The success of a Rotary Club depends upon good leadership and with the annual turnover of leadership roles there is a constant need for new leaders.

The Rotary Leadership Institute is a grassroots, multi-district leadership development program whose mission is to strengthen Rotary clubs through quality leadership education.

Attendees will receive a comprehensive introduction to Rotary's entities, processes, programmes and goals as well as gaining more knowledge of the vast topic that is Rotary.

Rotary Leadership Institute is especially suitable for newer Rotarians. Some people call it "Rotary 101". Rotary Club of Brisbane will pay for you to attend! CLICK HERE TO REGISTER.

Rotary Leadership workshops are run over 2 days. This workshop will be held on 31st August, and 14th September 2025. Attendees should attend both days. Each day commences at 8:30am and finishes by 3pm.

The attendance fee of $50 covers a light lunch on both days and morning tea. Since our  club is sponsoring our newer Club member's attendance, you can choose "Bill Me Later" and you will receive an invoice by email which you can forward to our Treasurer Celia.

Quick recap

The meeting began with introductions and welcoming visiting Rotarians from Germany, followed by discussions about membership status and committee reports. The club reviewed various projects and initiatives, including recycling efforts, coffee quality, and a container donation to Port Moresby, while also addressing concerns about meeting visibility and public relations. The main focus was on the annual Kids' Picnic project, which has been a long-standing community event for special needs children, along with announcements about upcoming events and volunteer opportunities.
