The Rotary Club of Brisbane is celebrating its 95th anniversary in a Rotary-unusual way with real burgers and virtual reality Ecstasy, Cannabis and Magic Mushrooms. Join is for the "trip" on the 28th of May at the Brisbane Queen Street Mall Stage. The official start will be at 12:00 noon and we hope the Lord Mayor Graham Quirk will be available to get the event going.

No fundraising! Just fun! You can expect two main things happening:

1. Official handover to the Salvation Army of a disaster response trailer, funded with a $30,000 donation from the Rotary Club of Brisbane. The trailer will be cooking real burgers for the occasion.

2. Virtual reality awareness-raising on the risks associated with drink/drug-driving with a driving simulator in cooperation with CARRS-Q. We have facilitated a free license for QUT to use the European virtual reality software (valued at $47,000). We will offer the citizens of Brisbane to get behind the wheel of a virtual car and experience what it’s like to drive a car whilst drunk, on Ecstasy, high on Cannabis and tripping on Magic Mushrooms. By choosing their "high" and stepping behind the wheel they will experience simulated drug-induced experiences and precisely how their perception of reality and therefore driving competence is affected.
